Dr. Na'im Akbar is one of the world's preeminent African-American psychologists and a pioneer in the development of an African-centered approach in modern psychology.
A former president of the National Association of Black Psychologists, Akbar teaches in the Department of Psychology at Florida State University and is the Director of his own private consulting firm.
Dr. Akbar has written five books and over twenty-five scholarly articles. He has been interviewed on several episodes of Tony Brown's Journal, The Geraldo Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and BET's Our Voices.
Significant articles about him have appeared in Essence magazine, The Washington Post, Ebony Man and a large number of local, national, and international newspapers. With literally scores of awards and plaques, Akbar is clearly recognized as one of the great thinkers and orators of our time.
