Hip Hop is the most dominant force in popular entertainment in the world today.
This amazing new series is comprised of five separate programs scheduled throughout your school year, exploring the reach of hip hop in global culture. Each program focuses on the four main aspects of Hip Hop culture -- DJ-ing, MC-ing, Breaking, and Grafitti Art -- and features a nationally recognized artists in that discipline. Artists include world reknown DJ Rekha (creator of the Basement Banghra movement), Christopher Reid (aka Kid of Kid 'n' Play), Rah Digga (of Ruff Rider fame), Massive Monkees (World B-Boy Invitational break dance champions), Graffitti artist Yes Duffy, and a host of others. A final program looks at the overall view of hip hop and is presented by one of several noted authors such as Social critic Kevin Powell, Bakari Kitwana, author of Hip Hop Generation, or Dr. Reiland Rabaka, Ph. D, professor of African American Studies at Univ of Colorado! Each program features interactive workshops along with an evening program, making this an event as informative as it will be entertaining!
