Jerry is from NYC, and lives in Los Angeles. He defines new boundaries in oral traditions. His work is at once both raw and precise, with a skill and broad resonance that goes the distance from Rodin to Rucker Park. Jerry is also a three-time Los Angeles Poetry Grand Slam winner, and a repeat finalist at the National Poetry Slam.
Jerry has made many television and radio appearances including, NBC with Tom Brokaw, CBS Morning News, C-Span, Fox TV, NPR, New York One, BBC National Radio, The Tavis Smiley Show, and American Pop.
He has been written about and his work has been published in several anthologies, magazines, and newspapers including Time Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, News Day, The New York Times, The Village Voice, and several others. His work is also published in the books Twilight of Empire and Slam . He is the editor of the anthology Juke Joint Magic. Jerry has also recorded songs with a number of hip hop artists including 2Mex and E-Rule, as well as on the groundbreaking compilations The Unbound Project and Senior Year.
