Danny Solis started writing poetry at the age of five.
He has been called the poet Laureate of Albuquerque is a two-time 'Burque Poetry Slam Champion. Solis was two-time Asheville, and Southeastern Regional Individual Champion. He has been a part of two National Championship Poetry Slam teams and is a four-time Boston individual Slam champ Solis is a champion of the Taos Poetry Circus Open Slam, and a member of the winning duo in the 2000 Taos Heavy Weight Tag Team poetry bout.

Solis believes that political poetry and love poetry are the hardest to write because "The emotions tend to overwhelm any concern for craft." Solis has performed poetry for audiences of all ages all over America giving shows and workshops in schools, universities, coffee shops and bars in almost every state of the lower 48. The Austin Chronicle described Solis as "a fearless presence, with a dedication that treats poetry as something surpassing mere entertainment."
