Tabla Virtuoso - Composer - Producer Suphala combines traditional South Asian instrumentation and sensibilities with contemporary electronic forms. As a protégé of the great masters Ustad Allarkha and Ustad Zakir Jussain, she performs on tabla and samplers that are accompanied by strings and horns structured within a contemporary digital landscape. In the past few years she has collaborated with Perry Ferell (Jane's Addiction), DJ Spooky, Lady Ms. Kier (Dee-Lite), 4Hero, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), DJ Logic, Michael Bland (Prince), Timbaland, and Norah Jones just to name a few. Her style and sound of her music are described as sensual, high-brow, cinematic, authentic, and mood altering. Her debut recording, The Now is available on Rasamusic/Tommyboy Records.
