Malcolm-Jamal Warner shot to fame with a six-year stint as the sometimes cocky but good-humored Theo, the only son of the Huxtables on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.

Born in New Jersey, the actor was raised in Southern California by his divorced mother, who served as his manager. Enrolled in acting schools by the age of nine, Warner was selected by Cosby to play Theo on the last day of a nationwide talent search of young African Americans. Relocating to NYC, Warner was educated at the Professional Children's School and later attended NYU as a film student.

In 1989, he stepped behind the cameras to helm a music video for the group New Edition, and the following year directed the first of four episodes of The Cosby Show. He can currently be found in Showtime's edgy sci-fi series Jeremiah (2002) with Luke Perry. Warner performed during the second season of Russell Simmon's Def Poetry Jam on HBO and continues performing his spoken word pieces nationally.
